This month's newsletter is all about keeping fresh and healthy while traveling!

Self-Care Challenge

Stay hydrated! Whether you are traveling by plane, train, or automobile, make sure to bring a water bottle and keep drinking! Don't make the mistake of trying not to drink so you won't need to use the restroom. Dehydration can leave you grumpy at worst and sick enough to need medical care at best. It doesn't feel good -- it can cause headaches and confusion, so drink up. Drink water or water with a hydration tablet to increase your electrolytes if you are on a long journey or traveling in especially warm weather.

Don't forget to hydrate your skin! Dry air will suck moisture right out of your skin. I keep a small hydration spray bottle nearby to frequently spritz my face.

Sunscreen. Don't forget about sunscreen! Reapply every two hours. If you have melasma or sun-damage, wearing a foundation on top of your sunscreen protects more than just sunscreen alone. The iron oxides in most pigments help prevent light from darkening those spots even more.

Yoga on the Road

When we travel, it's easy to give up our usual exercise routines, but that's often the time when we need it most. We can get incredibly stiff and sore from too much sitting -- especially sitting in cramped spaces. Here are a few tips:

Stretch in your seat. Here's an old video I filmed for doing yoga on an airplane. (Seats are even tighter now!) These tips also work in trains and cars -- as long as you aren't the driver!

Take frequent breaks. Get up and stretch, walk -- whatever you can do to get blood flow moving through your body.

Take a tennis ball with you. Sitting on cramped seats often causes pain in the back of the thighs or rear-end. I bring a tennis ball on long trips to put under my thigh from time to time to get relief. There are foot rests that help to lift your thighs away from the seat, but not all airlines allow them.

Exercise at your destination. Squeeze in a class, walk -- whatever you can to keep energy up and muscles supple. There are lots of streaming options now (including my website) so you can exercise anywhere.

Face Yoga

It's easy to squeeze in face yoga while traveling, and it will go a long way to helping you look and feel your best. Time changes, sleep disturbances, eating out and drinking more alcohol will show up on your skin. I now have three classes on my website: 30-minute, 15-minute, and an express 5-minute class. If you have access to ice globes, I have a very refreshing ice-globe massage online too!

Makeup

There's no easier way to pack makeup than a travel-friendly, fully customized Seint palette! Be sure to keep eyeshadows on the bottom layer of your palette, or in a separate palette so they won't flake into your creams. If you're traveling by car or on a long, hot journey, here's a great tip to keep your makeup and other toiletries fresh and cool.
